The Student Activity Fee (SAF) supports programs and initiatives that enrich student life, expand opportunities for student engagement, and advance equity-centered outcomes across Ä¢¹½´«Ã½. The SAF Program Proposal process provides an opportunity for students, programs, and campus partners to propose initiatives for consideration for SAF funding.

Proposals are evaluated by the Associated Students of Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ in accordance with , with the SAF Allocation Committee supporting the long-term administration and shared governance of SAF resources.

Types of Proposals

Short-Term / One-Time Initiatives

  • Designed for single or time-limited activities such as events, workshops, conferences, cultural programs, or student travel.
  • Have a defined timeframe and focused student impact, without requiring ongoing SAF funding.

Ongoing / Recurring Initiatives

  • Designed for continuing programs or recurring activities that require SAF support across multiple terms or years.
  • Demonstrate long-term student impact, with a plan for continuity, staffing, and responsible use of resources.
What We Look For

  • Respond to student needs– Clearly identify the need or opportunity the proposal addresses.
  • Center student voice– Demonstrate how students have informed, shaped, or will benefit from the proposed initiative.
  • Advance equity– Consider how the proposal serves historically marginalized and minoritized student communities and addresses barriers to participation.
  • Strengthen student life– Explain how the initiative contributes to student engagement, connection, belonging, or success.
  • Use resources responsibly– Provide a clear and realistic budget, timeline, and plan for implementation.
  • Demonstrate impact– Describe the intended outcomes and how you will know whether the initiative is successful.

Before beginning a proposal, we recommend gathering relevant budgets, timelines, student feedback, data, and other supporting materials. Proposals should provide enough information for student decision-makers to understand the need, potential impact, and responsible use of SAF resources.
