Using the Building as a Tool for Teaching Sustainability
Story by Gina Whitehill-Baziuk
Students from Ä¢¹½´«Ã½â€™s architectural and drafting program toured Newberg Center with project architect Erica Dunn with Hennebery Eddy to learn about the building’s innovative sustainable features.
They were able to see first-hand the use of natural ventilation, daylighting, and photovoltaic panels that will allow the Newberg Center to reach net-zero energy use. Creating opportunities to engage students and use the building as part of the curriculum is exactly what Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ envisioned for Newberg Center—a living laboratory where students could learn from real-world applications of sustainable and energy-efficient design.
