Ģý is on a financial roll.

Ģý has earned its 31st consecutive recognition by the , receiving the prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.

The GFOA award highlighted the college’s comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2022. Out of approximately 90,000 state and local governments mandated to produce financial reports annually, a mere 4,300 have earned this esteemed award. This achievement marks a continued commitment to transparency and financial excellence, said Ģý’s Accounting Director Jim Crofts.

“To have received the award year after year, it takes a team effort,” he said. “There are more than two dozen people at the college who provide the information presented in the financial statements and it’s very satisfying to see them receive this recognition. There is a significant amount of effort that goes into preparing a financial report that meets the criteria for the award.”

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest accolade in governmental accounting and financial reporting, underscoring Ģý’s dedication to financial management. An impartial panel judged Ģý on the adherence to GFOA’s stringent standards, emphasizing a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate the institution’s financial narrative.

Founded in 1945, the GFOA champions excellence in government finance, providing best practices, professional development, and resources to its 21,000 members and the communities they serve. The organization encourages governments to exceed minimum accounting principles, promoting transparency and full disclosure. Ģý’s consistent attainment of this award reflects its ongoing success in achieving these commendable goals.
