Details about this class

Welcome to math class - I'm looking forward to meeting you!  My goal is to make math less intimidating and to show practical applications of each topic.  This is an in-person math class that meets two times a week. Please come to class with an open mind to working with others, learning/relearning some math, and getting back to working problems with pencil and papers. I do require all work turned in with a pencil or erasable pen.

Class will be a mix of interactive lecture, individual work and collaborative work.  The first half of the term we will be working without a calculator and then later in the term we will use calculators when we have application problems.  You will need access to a computer to do the homework in an adaptive computer program called ALEKS.  You will have weekly homework, group work done in class, and then 2 exams and a final exam during the term.

Technology

It is helpful to have a laptop/desktop at home to access ALEKS when not in class. Using your smart phone is cumbersome at best.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.

Students with disabilities

Students with disabilities should notify their instructor if accommodations are needed to take this class. For information about technologies that help people with disabilities taking Online based classes please visit the Disability Services website.
