The Art Of Physical Comedy
Comedy can come from movement, timing, presence, honesty and physical expression. Through playful exercises, build confidence, stage awareness and audience connection. Bring curiosity and the courage to look a little ridiculous. All levels welcome.
This class is designed for beginners, curious humans, performers, public speakers, teachers, improvisers and anyone who wants to feel more confident, expressive and alive in front of others. Through fun, supportive and low-pressure exercises, students will learn how to use the body as a tool for storytelling and connection. We'll explore physical awareness, character creation, comic timing, rhythm, status, exaggeration, audience connection and the beautiful art of making mistakes without immediately wanting to move to another country. Students will participate in games and exercises inspired by clown, mime, improvisation, and physical theatre. The focus is not on forcing jokes or "trying to be funny," but on discovering the natural comedy that comes from honesty, vulnerability, surprise, and being fully in the moment. No previous comedy, acting, or performance experience required.
