The recognized student government of Ä¢¹½´«Ã½
The Associated Students of Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ (ASÄ¢¹½´«Ã½) is the official student government representing more than 50,000 students across Ä¢¹½´«Ã½â€™s campuses and centers. Guided by our Constitution, ASÄ¢¹½´«Ã½ exists to advocate for student needs, uplift student voices, and foster a more equitable and supportive college experience.
Who we are
ASÄ¢¹½´«Ã½ is composed of all enrolled Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ students, who are recognized as General Members. The organization is led by the Associated Student Council (ASC), a group of up to 15 student councilors selected each year.
Our purpose
The Associated Student Council exists to:
- Serve and advocate for student needs, wishes, and interests
- Represent the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ student body in all endeavors
- Uphold transparency, equity, and responsible stewardship of resources
- Amplify diverse student voices
- Foster an equitable and transformative leadership experience for student leaders
ASÄ¢¹½´«Ã½ is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive college environment for all students and explicitly prohibits discrimination based on any protected status.
Committees and roles
ASÄ¢¹½´«Ã½ operates several permanent committees each year, including:
- Institutional Relations Committee (IRC)
- Student Relations Committee (SRC)
Councilors may also serve as:
- Committee Chairs
- External Liaisons to statewide student organizations
- Digital and Communications Secretaries
- Minute Takers
- Other roles deemed necessary by the Student Council
