A little about me
I have been working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and their families for the past 13 years. I enjoy working with families and ECE students developing strategies for preventing challenging behaviors, learning about different parenting styles, and the impact of culture on children’s behavior. Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ is very supportive of cultural values, and I’m proud to call the Child Development Center my second home. Currently, I’m a Senior Child Development Specialist-Mentor Teacher in the Grasshopper classroom. Under an anti-bias approach, I enjoy supporting and guiding children during developmentally appropriate play-based instruction and routines, and implementing and planning daily activities and culturally responsive curriculum.
My goal as a mentor teacher is to motivate our future educators to be collaborative with the families and integrate relevant learning experiences connected to children’s lives and culture when building their curriculum.
I love this work because I want to positively impact future generations and raise social justice awareness in ECE. My purpose is to see my future students become successful people living in a society that is more tolerant, accepting, and celebratory of cultural, social, and physical differences. Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband, daughter, and our dog. Our family enjoys cooking, arts and crafts, and traveling back and forth to our hometowns so our daughter can experience and learn about our cultures.

A little about me
Hello! My name is Alexis, and I am the Child Development Specialist for the Grasshopper room.
I have been working in the Early Childhood field for four years and have had the opportunity to work with children in several different settings. Before stepping into my role as a Child Development Specialist, I worked as a Floater Teacher here at the Child Development Center for the past three years. I have also spent the last two years as a Lead at a Kids Club in a local gym, where I have had the opportunity to care for and engage with children of different ages.
Throughout my experience, I have learned that every child is unique and has their own interests, personality, and ways of learning. My goal is to create a warm, welcoming, and safe environment where children feel comfortable being themselves, expressing their feelings, building relationships, and exploring the world around them. I believe children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and encouraged to explore at their own pace. I want each child to feel valued and know that their ideas, interests, and experiences are important. Building strong relationships with families is also very important to me. Families know their children best, and I believe that working together helps us provide the best possible care and learning experiences for each child.
